TAKE A SEAT
curated by Jarica Walsh, Trina Kopacka and Cayla Lewis
Take a Seat is a continuation of the feminist art movement concerning the growing power of women regarding their choices, their bodies and their place in politics and business. The road to equality has and continues to be challenging and this exhibition illustrates works created by women about women.
“The door might not be opened to a woman again for a long, long time, and I had a kind of duty to other women to walk in and sit down on the chair that was offered, and so establish the right of others long hence and far distant in geography to sit in the high seats”. Frances Perkins, United States Secretary of Labor 1933–1945
Heather Lunsford, Director School of Visual Arts, Oklahoma City University
